The Sammamish Symphony Orchestra opens its 2023-24 season with a program for music
lovers of all ages. The music of Scott Joplin, forever acknowledged as “The King of Ragtime,”
kicks off the concert with three of his delectable rags, including The Entertainer (made famous
by its inclusion in the 1973 film The Sting). Two emerging teenage talents will take solo roles in
this concert: soprano Grace Franck-Smith will sing three arias from the Baroque period, and
actor Ty Ho will tell The Story of Babar, the Little Elephant as set to music by Francis Poulenc.
The concert ends with a composition by Leopold Mozart (father of Wolfgang): the whimsical Toy
Symphony, a virtual concerto for toy instruments and orchestra.
