One of the best ways to celebrate Earth Day is to give back to the planet you love.
This year at Kirkland Urban, we are partnering with 1 Green Planet and DTG Recycle to collect electronics and Styrofoam from April 17 – 21. A collection bin will be placed inside the 400 Building. If you’d like to know more about the recycling program, stop by during the event on April 19 to chat with a DTG Recycle team member.
Kirkland Urban will also continue its #PlantwithKU partnership with ForestNation by offering free tree planting kits. Last year on Earth Day ForestNation distributed over 1,000 grow-your-own tree kits at Kirkland Urban. For every kit, 10 trees were planted in Tanzania in areas hit hard by deforestation and industrial agriculture, resulting in 10k trees planted to date. The #PlantwithKU trees produce over 1,000 tons of Oxygen each year, generating over 400 working hours for women within struggling communities, and help to absorb over 250 tons of C02 annually. We invite you to view pictures of Kirkland Urban’s forest and check out the impact of the forest here. Stop by on Earth Day 2023 to pick up a tree kit from ForestNation and help us reach our goal of planting 20k trees!
Additionally, many other businesses throughout the Kirkland Urban campus will be acknowledging this special day. Please see the website for a list of participating businesses.
Kirkland Urban is an inclusive and accessible open-air shopping center. To support children and adults of all abilities, sensory-sensitive toolkits will be available onsite during all Kirkland Urban events. Toolkits include noise-canceling headphones, sensory/fidget toys, earplugs and an identifier sticker/badge and can be picked up upon arrival. This event is free and open to the public.
